What is Restorative Justice? How can we bring it to the schools?
Video with Brenda Morrison professor at SFU
Forum theatre is In the tradition of Theatre of the Oppressed. We view the drama once and then it is repeated exactly, this time, We are invited to shout “STOP" when we see something that we could change and step into the roles to send the drama into a new direction of balance and into the dawn of hope. This is a dynamic, emotionally charged evening merging art and social action in the spirit of Restorative Justice, where respect is the heart of the matter.

Days Feb 13-18th St Andrew’s Gym Details
Street spirits workshops are designed to assist a community to explore a social issue through theatre. Andrew Burton studied with Augusto Boal and added his own flavour to forum theatre with his social/psychological background to bring to Mission this month.
Through various techniques and games, participants learn to be sculptors of their own lives. To value themselves for their own individuality and connection to a group of people who meet as strangers and part as friends.
Carolyn Dawn and group of intergenerational trainers who have recently taken Andrew’s “Train the Trainer” program ( some MRR facilitators and Canada world youth) January 22, 23, 24th. Are working along side Andrew as we explore the roots of separation and connection in all our lives, supporting the participants to create a play based on their own authentic passions and experience. Sometimes the most personal is the most universal.
The goal of the workshop is to create a compelling performance with a beginning, middle and no ending will then be presented to the community, February 18th evening allowing for an exploration of the issues raised and for the generation of potential solutions to the problems related to it. The audience provides the ending or endings.
This process has successfully lead to the establishment of a number of community social action theatre programs across Canada and is expected to do so here in Mission called the Dot 2 Dot Theatre Troop.
